Rotational Studies After Collision

What reads at first as raw automatism reveals itself, on sustained looking, as something closer to the Surrealist écriture automatique tradition - particularly the looping, self-interrupting line work associated with André Masson's sand paintings of the late 1920s. The cupped hands at the lower register cradle a dense, knotted mass whose internal contradictions refuse to resolve into a single legible object, insisting instead on plurality. The twin anchoring strokes at the upper edge function almost as horizon lines, grounding the chaos below in a quiet, unexpected architectonics. The work breathes.
