About
wifärt gallery is the world's leading wi-fi art gallery, operating from the heart of East Hackney, London E8.
The gallery's collection is composed entirely of works produced by members of the public on a touchscreen drawing surface, in exchange for access to the gallery's wireless network.
Founded in 2026, wifärt gallery takes the position that the conditions of artistic production — what tools, what time, what payment, what audience — are at least as significant as the works themselves. The collection accumulates without curatorial selection. Every work submitted is exhibited.
The gallery operates without a physical premises in the conventional sense. Visitors do not travel to the works; the works travel to the visitor, by way of the network signal. The gallery is open whenever the network is available, which is most of the time.
The collection
Works in the collection range in scale, technique, and apparent intention. Some are figurative; many are abstract. Some are titled, some are not. Artists may submit anonymously or under a name of their choosing. The gallery makes no formal distinction between these conditions.
Each work in the collection is accompanied by a curatorial note. These notes are produced in conversation between the artist's submitted information and the gallery's curatorial team, and are intended as a sincere reading of the work on its own terms.
Programme
The gallery operates a continuous group exhibition with a rotating monthly theme. Themes are intended as suggestions only. Submissions that do not address the current theme are accepted, exhibited, and discussed on equal footing with those that do.
The current exhibition, Something You Love, runs for the month of May 2026. Past and future themes are listed in the gallery's archives.
Acquisitions and removal
All works are acquired by submission. The gallery does not purchase works and does not sell them. Artists retain authorship in their work and may request removal at any time by contacting the gallery directly.
Submit a work
To contribute a work to the collection, visit Dalston Square in person and connect to the wireless network Drawing for Wi-Fi. The submission interface will appear automatically on any device with a touchscreen.
Funding and governance
wifärt gallery receives no public funding and is not affiliated with any institutional body. The gallery is operated and curated by the artist Dan Berg. All running costs are met privately. The gallery does not host advertising.
