Figure Departing Into Line

What arrests attention here is the collision between structural containment and outward dispersal: a torso-like ovoid anchors the left field whilst two long, near-parallel strokes knife rightward with the cool force of Barnett Newman's zips turned diagonal, as though the painting's organising force has been yanked free of its vertical duty and sent horizontal. The small leaf-form above reads as vestigial thought, a floating sigil. Luana's drawing does not resolve the body so much as abandon it mid-sentence, leaving the legs as a grammatical afterthought below a composition that has already moved on.
