Seaside Under Flat Horizon

The work collapses landscape into pure chromatic strata - sky rendered as accumulative blue scribble, earth as raw cadmium yellow, the two zones severed by a hard navy band that sits close to Rothko's contention on colour as existential field rather than description. Crude lettering cuts into the lower register, introducing language as visual rupture, a self-conscious intrusion wholly consistent with Jasper Johns' interrogation of sign and surface.
