Two Figures, Orange Field
Kai Costa
Violent chromatic gestures collide across a sallow ground, the trembling geometry of a red triangle anchoring what might otherwise dissolve into pure agitation. Black ellipses - perhaps vessels, perhaps voids - nestle within ochre tracery, whilst magenta and orange trajectories slice through the composition with visceral urgency. The artist's titular invocation of maternal abjection finds its formal correlate in this deliberate refusal of resolution, where overlapping lines enact a compulsive return to sites of primal intensity.
