I Heart Hackney
Blessing Okafor
A purple flower of five loosely articulated petals rises from a stem anchored in a continuous wave of green, the yellow centre catching the eye with a force out of all proportion to its size. The undulating baseline beneath reads not merely as ground but as a kind of visual frequency, picking up Hockney's principle that the hand's path through space carries its own declarative truth. Okafor's line breathes with deliberate informality, proposing the sketch itself as the finished thought.
