Three chromatic registers - yellow, blue, pink - hold the pictorial field in a state of cheerful ontological negotiation. The looping yellow scrawl that constructs the dog's fur leans on Dubuffet's Art Brut conviction that unschooled mark-making carries a rawness no trained hand can manufacture; here the spiralling coils of hair and the jubilant 'WOOF' lettering operate as equals within the composition. The blue skateboard cuts across the lower plane with unexpected decisiveness, anchoring a scene that might otherwise float into pure sign.
