Air Is Cool Actually

The looping brown line that constitutes this figure's skull carries the full weight of what Basquiat's circle-heads proposed and left unresolved: personhood as a provisional enclosure. Precious Okafor scripts the word COOL into the composition's upper register, collapsing text and image in a manner the Cobra movement would have recognised immediately as deliberate contamination of fine-art distance. The stick body, barely begun, insists on incompleteness as philosophy.
